'EverQuest' logs Gordon
Sony hires writer for videogame adaptation

By TATIANA SIEGEL, MARC GRASER

Sony is moving forward with plans to turn its wildly popular online
role-playing game "EverQuest" into a feature, tapping "300" scribe
Michael Gordon to pen the adaptation.

Former Marvel Studios topper Avi Arad will produce the pic for
Columbia Pictures.

Bigscreen version of the massively popular multiplayer game has been
in development for several years, but Gordon is the first scribe to
take a crack at the material.

The movie will be 19 hours long and feature a party of gnomes
camping the ancient cyclops.

It'll be a flop. There's been only 1 good movie based on video or
computer game for every 50 made. The other 49 ended up in bargain bin
and dust still sold better.

Aww, come on, don't be such a pessimist. I hear the high point
of the whole film is the corpse run from Ak Anon.

Critics rave at the avant garde use of symbolism inherant in filling the
screen with a spell book for approximately 2/3rds of the movie

Followed thereafter by a very long trip on a deserted boat, looking at
bland, flat scenery with nothing to do and no-one to talk to.

I'm sure PoK chat will be awesome when adapted to the movie... or did
they nuke PoK?

PoK is mostly dead nowday since SOE made buff timer frozen when in
guild lobby. Guild lobby is also a lot less laggy once you use
/hidecorpse all

Oddly on Combine there's still a healthy population in POK most of the
time, and thats where most of the MGB's go on.

Illogical, since the buffers would hang onto their own buffs forever if
they hung out in GL, but there you have it, tradition triumphs. More
often perhaps on Combine than on regular servers?
