Cursor problem

Others seem to be having a similar problem, but I'm not sure if it's the
same. While I see the nice, heavy gold type cursor while sitting through
the login and splash screens, when I get in-game, it changes to a normal,
white Windows cursor. I could live with that, except that when I begin to
move (WASD controlled), it disappears (or changs to the text insertion
cursor "|", anyway), and I have to shake it to get it back. I can manage to
make it work, but it is very inconvenient and costs me a couple seconds
sometimes when trying to target something or operate the UI.

I'm using a bit of a hodge podge of custom UI elements, but none that
should be replacing the cursor. I haven't tried reverting to the default UI
yet. Maybe that would give me a clue. I'm at work now, so I'll try that
later.

Anyone else run into this?

I'm sure it's something to do with custom UI's because it's like that on
all my accounts except the one running a totally default and horrible
standard UI.

I too am using a custom UI <LODI> but maybe I should give the default
UI another shot. The LODI is really sweet though and it's gonna be
hard to stay with the default. MAybe trying this will help me figure
out the cursor problem....

One thing I did notice was that it only acts up when I ALT+TAB between
applications. It's like once it is reminded that Windows is actually
running in the background, it replaces the cursor with a Windows version.

Do you have your Mouse properties set to "hide pointer while typing"?
Not that that alone would explain it, because I have that set and the
pointer doesn't give me problems in EQ. Indeed, playing in windowed
mode, and with the type-in going into a non-EQ window, I find that my
pointer disappears when I type ONLY if the pointer was over the window
I'm typing in. If the pointer is over my EQ window while I type into
my news-reader, the pointer stays visible.

So my guess is that your custom UI is indeed somehow affecting the
treatment of the pointer when typing. But if you can't figure out how
to fix the UI, and don't want to switch to the default UI, you could
consider turning off the "hide pointer while typing" mouse setting
across the board see if that does the trick.
