ok, so i was looking at instruments for my bard and i noticed that some
weapons and armor have instrument effects. for example, a sword that had 19
percussion instruments, or a mask that had 16 wind instruments. if i wore
the mask and got out my flute that has 22 wind instruments, would the two
stack? or would i only get the effect of the higher one?

So then what's the point of these armor and weapons? I mean, it might be
nice to sing something like invis, which requires an instrument, without
actually having to get the instrument out, but when you want to really
improve your song, wouldn't it be best to get out the 22 instrument rather
than relying on your 16 mask?

Save swapping, for the most part. Or give you some flexibility in
getting *ANY* instrument effects when mixing up twists a bit.

Especially for wind, there aren't many songs that can improve from
better instrument modifiers anyway. You don't get more invisible with a
better flute, or charm longer or mez longer and that's about the extent
of wind songs. About the only modifier most bards in our guild care
about is drums, for resist songs and running real fast.

Hm, I thought it migtht influence resist checks for charm though...
Later singing mod comes in really handy. But you obviously would not get
this with instruments. :)
And unless you raid in pop/god I doubt you will find a lot equipment
with has singing mod on it. :/

Now this is a nice trinket. :)
Though the problem is how do I raise RoS Faction first?
And second is it still in the game after the VP revamp?
I had a quick look at the factions part on allakhazam and it looks like
cleansing Castle Mistmoore should do the trick. Are there better/faster
ways to do this for a 65 Bard?

It was, in fact, only after the revamp that it went into the game, so
yes, it's still there.

I should have guessed this by the HP/Mana on this item....*selfbonk*
But I'm glad it is this way. So I don't have to rush things. I don't
know if the new VP is already live on Kael Drakkal...

Thank you. I guess castle mistmoore will see a few concerts in the near
future. :)

Not only is it the fastest way, you're the best suited class for it too!

I found it easy to just grab a nice size train and tanking them all while
twisting AE dots (the dot/slow Melody of Mischief makes this even easier
for a bard). I could almost kill every mob in the zone before respawns,
though I mostly kept to the castle as there was often exp groups killing
the mobs outside (never saw one in the castle).

Still, expect quite a few hours of grinding faction before you're ally
with faction song.

I'm afraid I need a couple of hours more since I did kill in VP. ^^
But as long as I don't disturb some groups in Mistmoore it should be
quite easy.

When you want to, yes.

But many effect, such as the invisibility you mention, aren't improved
by the instrument, either they work or they don't.

And many of those that are improved by instrument are still quite often
with no instrument at all, as swapping out weapons in order to lay the
instrument in hand at the right time and then back fast enough not to
lose much DPS while still twisting can be...wearing, and many bards just
don't bother unless its a really desperate time.

Having a so so "instrument" thats always there means when you don't swap
the "real" instrument in, you at least aren't just humming the tune.

The point is this. If you have it on your armor or weapons, then you don't
have to stop doing melee damage to get the bonus. You don't do very much
damage smacking someone upside the head with a flute.

This is a bard we are talking about. First off, he should be able to
juggle in the flute so its there as the song he needs it for finishes
casting, then juggle it back away, with very little chance of losing any
melee output.

But second of all, this is a bard, so your sentence should have read simply

"You don't do very much damage"

If you're too lazy to juggle, just keep the flute in hand and sing on.
