Discussion:
EQ2 Apprentice III spells
(too old to reply)

I'm currently a level 12 summoner in EQ2. I'd like to upgrade at least
my two main spells, the summon and zap spell (can't remember their
actual names), to Apprentice III or Adept I.

Now, I know that Apprentice III can only be bought from artisans (btw,
I tried to make a sage of my own, but was lost as to how to level him
and make money) and Adept I is only dropped from mobs. So, my question
is where can I find someone selling these scrolls? Or, how can i find
out which mobs drops the scrolls I need? Or, is there an artisan/sage
tutorial out there so I can make my own spells?

I make my scout App III skill, and they required

Sepia Ink (made from Sepia dye, made with isoloid ?)
Tin Spike
Lead Ornament.

So you need 1tin, 1 lead and 1 general metal to make the reagant that
make the sepia dye which makes the ink.

For scrolls, I think the spike/ornament is replaces with quill and
paper, made from wood and roots respectively.

IIRC there's a trading channel - maybe you can put out a request ?

You can also search on any broker (generally there is a broker in each
tradeskill instance entrance as well as a few scattered about the cities)
for a player that is selling the books you need.

Now if only they'd get the fighter skills fixed so they CAN ACTUALLY BE
MADE. Grrrr. WTF is up with not offering they key suspension components in
any shape or form anywhere in the game? Complained about this in beta (one
form was there, one was missing). The missing suspension was added less
than a week before the beta ended, and now BOTH have completely disappeared
from live.

I'll give the brokers a try when I get home from work.

I've been reading up on the crafting, and it doesn't seem like a fun
use of my time. Besides, I probably already gimped my guy on the
artisan path by leaving the IoR before I had levelled up my resource
skills. Oh well... Gathering, mining, harvesting, etc are pretty
mind-numbingly boring. Plus it takes forever to find resource nodes.

Giving up tradeskillling should still work - since you'llbe spending
all your time adventuring, you should have a decent flow of money in
order to buy things.

I think App III skills go for around 4s.

Only checked out the broker in the tradeskill instance in castleview
hamlet last night and he was empty. There were plenty of people down
there making stuff though.

Still haven't ever gotten a spell or skill adept-level scroll dropped
from a mob, but I'm still only level 12, so perhaps the noob mobs dont
drop them.

I've made a bunch of App III scrolls (spells) and essences (melee), and
I've had one Adept I scroll I could use drop for me, currently level 14
shaman, level 8 Artisan.

I've gotten two Courage (Adept I) and one Toughness (Adept I) off
mobs, at level 12, so it's probably just you being unlucky, or maybe
you've fought less group mobs than I have? They're probably more
common off group mobs, since after all you need a group to kill those
(unless they're green or you're a priest).

Well I saw App III spells being sold at the broker last night for an
over-priced 7s, so I only upgrading zap and multi-zap. Hopefully
someone will be selling an App III summon soon.

As for Adept I stuff, someone was indeed selling an Adept I summon...
for well over 1g!

Hopefully, prices will normalize a little when more people start
tradeskilling. I've met a lot of people in the game that want to
tradeskill, but are too confused and don't know what to do.

In they went, now there are app3 skills available on the broker, for
only twice what they cost for all other classes (in Qeynos on
Runnyeye). Something tells me they'll be cheaper tomorrow...

I just started playing with crafting last night and managed to make
App III versions of a couple of my low-level priest spells. The recipes
were in "artisan essentials vol 5" IIRC (you can r-click on the recipe
book before buying it to see which recipes it contains).

The process was rather tedious with a lot of subcombines, but the
components were all things I had foraged or could buy from the
wholesaler. I did have to resort to a web search to discover that
"isonoid reagent" fills the "refined isonoid" slot and that
"elm lumber" fills the "refined elm" slot.

You can solve problems like this by grabbing everything you've got that you
think *might possibly* be the intended ingredient then bringing up the
recipe on the appropriate device (forge for smithing, chem table for
alchemy, et cetera). First, you'll see what item(s) it selected. Then when
you click "change" beside the item, you'll see all of the items you were
carrying that are considered viable alternatives. That's how I found out
that in the dye recipes Isonoid Loam can be used in place of Isonoid
Reagent.
