While testing pet weapon damage in the tutorial, I got interested in the
slaves.

Turns out, as I knew, that they will follow you around if you agree to
[escort] them to safety ,and that they will fight for you in the meantime.

Here are several things I didn't know though.

One, you can have one and a pet.

But Two, you cannot summon a new pet if you have one.

Three, you can remove the quest and they stay with you.

But Four, even if you remove the quest you still can't summon a new pet.

Five, only one slave will follow you, ask another and it will say that
its too dangerous.

Six, if your current slave dies, you can't get a new one, for reason Five.

Seven, if you remove the quest, then you can get a new slave.

Eight, (and here it gets crazy) you can do this even if your current
slave hasn't died, see Three.

Nine, there are Four slaves available... and you can have all four.

Ten, you, your pet, if you're a pet class, plus four slaves = ARMY OF ONE

Eleven (yes, this one goes to eleven) while under your protection, you
can hand the slaves a weapon, and they will use it. Their native high
end damage is about 8, so giving them a rusty two hander doubles their
damage output. They do not, however, dual wield.

I'm going to try this as a level two halfing rogue. I won't have a pet
of my own, but hide and sneak should get me the fearsome foursome!

Bad news, when I hide/sneak, the slaves revert to their normal status,
no longer my pets. For a class with invis, this might mean they can
summon a new pet, then re-escort the slaves. But for my dream of
sneaking back out with an army for my level 2 rogue, not so great.

On the plus side I killed a couple rats by aggroing them and then
allowing the slaves to do all the work. I still got the exp, meaning
they aren't just NPC's following me around that I have to OD, but rather
part of my damage production.

Further testing: Sneak is OK, just not Hide (and presumably in

Ooops sent by mistake. ...presumably invis.)

The slaves con Amiable to me, also evidence they are pets of a sort

Four of them armed with rusty two handers, are pretty fierce, tearing
thru the rats and goblins down in the jail with ease

Sadly, I wipe trying to get back out, and when I return, the slaves seem
to have died in the wipe too, no surprise, so now they are just normally
armed.

Further observing them, acting en masse, they don't seem to taunt at
all, meaning they usually can't get a mob off me, I have to tank it and
just use them as DPS about half the time.

Unarmed, I never see that 9 damage I thought I saw before, high end
seems to be 8.

With a lot of work, I manage to sneak back out to the scout position,
killing one warrior who aggroed me on the way... I really miss those
rusty two handers, the first bunch took out a similar warrior easily

Down into the rats and bats section, its just a matter of how quick I
can aggro mobs, they die so fast. Spiders and spiderling almost as
simple, although I have to sit occaisionally to get hp back up.

At fourth level, I took on the Queen, me and the mob got her, but
barely, by which I mean I went unconcious, then she died, I got exp and
task credit, then the Iksar slave died, then I died, both of the poison.

I went back to the Queen's room, hoping the slaves would still be there,
but they'd wandered off. For comparison sake, I took her on solo... got
her a mere 25% down before I died.

Proof of concept!

The other notable place where slaves are available is in the LDoN
adventures. The slaves are more widely separated there. I wonder if you
are tempted to persue the research.

The LDoN slaves don't show up in your quest menu, as far as
I know, which sadly means you probably can't do this multi slave
trick there. However, you probably can do things like buff and
gear them up...
